Is there a connection between painting and photography today?
The book, The Artist as Photographer, by Marina Vaisey was suggested to me to get an historical perspective on the relationship between painting and photography. Although it is out of print it was easily found on the internet.
I was immediately amazed by the number of painters who have used the camera to develop and create their art. Delacroix saw photography as a tool and was not threatened by it. Monet had a darkroom studio for his photography and Man Ray saw the camera as a tool jut like the paintbrush.
